January 05, 2006: Against the War
Wake up against the war,
take my first warm
breath of the day
against the war, against the war,
stumble bleary-eyed
into the shower
against the war,
drink my bitter coffee,
catch the tv's morning propaganda
for the war, for the war.
So I pin buttons to my shirt, my jacket, my bag
against the war, against the war,
and wish I could turn my entire body into a button
against the war, against the war,
glowing flesh warning all passersby
of my resistance without need
to find the words to speak or write
against the war, against the war.
