Ted Stolze: Resources of Hope, Logics of Struggle

January 05, 2006: This World in Which We Scarcely Live

I am grateful I could tell my mother that
I love her, grateful I could say goodbye;
despite the impersonal hospital surroundings,
I had a small voice that day.

What a contrast to the mothers dead or grieving
in Iraq and Palestine, for whom
there is only empire's remorseless violence:
killing without words.
