Editorial Policy
We try to take
blogging
seriously as a new form with a unique formal integrity.
Some of us call it "theory blogging". The idea is that a blog post is
short and more tightly focused than a traditional essay or article, and also far
more informal. The ability to post comments widens the original post and turns it
into something dynamic, more like a conversation, yet still, hopefully, focused.
A particular theme or topic evolves over multiple posts. We're intrigued.
As
"editors" we sometimes solicit
"guest blogs"
from people whose
point of view seems interesting to us.
These pieces are one-time or occasional contributions from activists whose perspectives or
experience are different than ours. Instead of encouraging polemic or controversy, we view
them as cooperative attempts to widen our collective point of view.
We hope you'll jump in!
We consider everything we do to be provisional, that is, a work in progress. Sometimes
we go back and revise things that have already been published. There's no longer any
such thing as "the canonical text". At last, goodbye to the 19th Century!
People actually read this site. 100,000 page views in a busy month. Is that cool, or what?
