Glossary: incantation

A verbal formula which is empty but sounds full, serving the purpose of making a silence seem to be a not-silence.

That probably sounds like more of a brainful than it actually is! LOL!

We use the magical term incantation to mean a verbal gesture which suggests content without really having any. An example that comes up a lot in socialist history is "democratic control from below." Golly that sounds great! But what the heck does it mean? Not really anything. But watch out for how it pretends to!

Incantations are magic wands we use to wave (waive?) away problems, instead of confronting them.

Incantations are evil because they close discussion right where discussion should be most forcefully opened up.
