Welcome to Trouble Tickets
We're a small network of friends working
in the movements for peace, social justice and democracy.
We're unhappy with the kinds of activist organizations we've experienced
before, so we're trying to invent new methods which'll be more effective
and more fun.
Right now we focus on these projects:
1. Rethinking activist strategies for peace and social justice.
We're dissatisfied with the
perspectives inherited from past movements. We want to figure out
better ways, which'll be theoretically coherent yet more rooted in contemporary
circumstances and culture. We use our
blog
spaces as forums for original theory and strategy. Please
jump in.
2. Developing new
"narratives",
meaning ideological discourses, capable of contesting right-wing ideological
hegemony. Our hope is to produce a library of simple counter-narratives
which can be drawn on by writers, artists, and other cultural workers.
3. Exploring
blogging
as an activist medium.
The Web is the first mass medium with no significant
publication costs. As a new form, blogging's characteristic
idioms and techniques are still being worked out. Our blogs are
usually short and informal, yet we take the new medium seriously
as a forum for original work.
4. Advocating a
new party,
closely related to and supporting a
revitalized mass movement for democratic social change in America
and around the world.
Our
forums
are open to all. You can also comment on our
blogs,
and our
narratives.
Please do. We hope you'll
contribute your own insights, make suggestions, and tell us what you think.

How to Defeat Terrorism
1. End the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan.
2. Broker a just and lasting peace between Israel
and Palestine, where "just" and "lasting"
means recognized as such by both sides.
3. Withdraw support from the antidemocratic regimes in
Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Kuwait, Egypt, and elsewhere
throughout the Islamic world.
4. Invest in a "Marshall Plan" of massive aid and
technical assistance to end the endemic poverty
from which terrorism arises.
5. Mobilize American industry and technology to
eliminate strategic dependence on fossil fuels,
as NASA mobilized to reach the moon.
6. Organize a new political party, capable of defeating the
Republicans and Democrats to achieve these ends.
