Demonstrations as Narrative
Images of demonstrations: October 26, 2002 San Francisco
"The Israelis cannot continue to use the Holocaust for the oppression of others."
The '60s antiwar movement was strategically divided between those advocating single-issue
("Out Now!") versus multi-issue organizing. In 1991 there was perhaps less room for a
single-issue approach: it seemed so obviously to be a war for oil. As imperialism accelerates
its new war drive into country after country, will this old divide return? Or are 21st century
activists convinced the single-issue approach was wrong?
